Esquinas Rainforest Lodge
Introduction
 Hidden in the jungle of remote Piedras Blancas National
Park in southern Costa Rica, Esquinas Rainforest Lodge is surrounded by thousands of acres of untouched wilderness. It is a retreat for nature lovers wishing to
experience the sounds and sights of a tropical rainforest in a tranquil, undisturbed atmosphere.
We are located near the village of La Gamba, only three miles off
the Interamerican Highway and a 30-minute drive from Golfito airport. Esquinas is part of a model project combining conservation, research and community development.
It’s mother organization, the NGO „Rainforest of the Austrians“, has purchased 8000 acres of rainforest in the vicinity of the lodge and donated
them to the Costa Rican National Park Service. La Gamba Field Station, run by the University of Vienna, has become an internationally acclaimed research facility
for tropical biology. Besides being the major employer in La Gamba, Esquinas Lodge has donated more than $200,000 towards community projects.
Esquinas offers a large
variety of tours and excursions that lead through a jungle with a biodiversity equal to nearby Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park. Activities include hiking,
horseback riding, mountain biking, and kayak and boat tours in Golfo Dulce.
